SongwritersHelper > Performing and Evaluations Songwriting Performing and EvaluationsI think that it is pretty well accepted that even non-performing writers should get out there and get do some live gigs occasionally. You definitely get a better "feel" for how your songs effects people than by critiques alone. Of course, If you just write lyrics or just write music you will need to collaborate (and get your songs to performing musicians) to accomplish this (but then you are getting second opinions automatically :-) ). I have found the song evaluation service from NSAI, Nashville Songwriter Association International to be extremely helpful. I believe that the song evaluations have done me more good than anything else, other than just writing more songs! In addition to the NSAI evaluations I have found that you can also get some good input from people on-line. This is usually a give and take situation. The more contacts and critiques you do, the more you get... Broadjam (below) is good for feedback and I have heard that GarageBand.com is good in this area also.
Here is a nice collection of Music, Electronics & Audio Magazines from Amazon. |
